Research Manager


Ben Stanton leads global smartphone content at Canalys, overseeing the delivery of qualitative research. His role involves shaping the research agenda for Canalys analysts, and curating reports and presentations which bring cutting-edge insights and recommendations to Canalys clients. Ben is also heavily involved in device shipment tracking and forecasting, and has pioneered bespoke tracking methodology for new data products with next-generation channels splits.

Ben also leads devices research at a regional level in EMEA, extending to PCs, tablets, smartwatches, smart speakers, and TWS earbuds. He is regularly quoted in the top-tier press, such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the Financial Times, and the BBC. He also regularly presents Canalys research at industry events.

Ben previously spent several years working on Canalys’ IT infrastructure analysis services, covering data centers, networking infrastructure and cybersecurity. He has also contributed to bespoke consulting projects on topics such as smart buildings, enterprise wearables, social robotics, and autonomous vehicles.

His academic background is in experimental and behavioral economics. He graduated with an MSc in Economics and Experimental Economics from the University of Exeter. As part of his education, Ben studied statistics, finance and game theory.
